Let’s discuss Dragonlord Placidusax’s Weakness and how to defeat it. FromSoftware games are known for being time-consuming and hard to beat. The studio maintained that streak with its latest release Elden Ring. Elden Ring’s battles probably last longer than the story. That is because you sometimes have to put hours into beating a boss that wouldn’t budge.

You’ll come across many such enemies who might seem impossible to beat. But everything in the game is beatable. Studying enemy patterns and figuring out the best strategy is fun and makes every victory feel special. The main story antagonists are scary, but some side villains are even harder to beat. Dragonlord Placidusax is one of them.
Who is Dragonlord Placidusax?
Dragonlord Placidusax is a two-headed dragon god. He is one of the many legendary bosses residing in the world of Elden Ring. Placidusax is not integral to the main story but has a little lore of his own. Fans of the game came up with theories that talk about him waiting for something for eternity.

At one point, Placidusax had five heads. That was before he lost 3 of them in undisclosed battles. Once upon a time, he used to rule and watch over the Lands Between. His reign loomed over the lands before the days of the Golden Order and Marika. Placidusax is said to be waiting for the return of the dragon god.
Rewards for Beating Placidusax
The Dragonlord is hard to beat. It takes a lot of planning and a lot of time both before and during the battle. The showdown will definitely make you question if it is even worth it. So is it really?
In terms of story progression, there is nothing to earn from locating and eventually beating Placidusax. He is a side character and does not contribute anything to the main lore. Your game wouldn’t be dramatically different if you never crossed paths with the two-headed dragon.
You do get a good amount of rewards, however. Placidusax drops 280K runes when slayed. You can use them to level up your character.
Where to find Placidusax?
Finding the lord of the dragons is a challenge in itself. Placidusax lives in Crumbling Farum Azula, and you will find him in its lowest section.
- Reach “Beside the Great Bridge” Site of Grace.
- Locate an elevator that goes down to the church.
- Exit the church after beating enemies.
- Head southeast and jump off a ledge.
- Follow a path of floating stones.
- Locate a curved and raised platform.
- Lie down when a prompt tells you to do so.

You will be teleported to an arena where Placidusax rests.
Strong Points & Weaknesses
Placidusax has a total of 26,651 health points. That’s a lot of health and requires some effort to get cut down. But there’s more than that to worry about.
Placidusax’s attacks are strong, and you want to avoid them. He uses a combination of lightning and fire powers to unleash hell upon the player. When you are too preoccupied, he surprises you with his sharp claws. Placidusax can also teleport, which gives him another advantage. And that’s without mentioning the advantage of his height and size. Players are advised to avoid ranged battling as Placidusax’s style puts him at a great advantage.
It doesn’t mean that there is no Dragonlord Placidusax’s weakness. The head is a major Dragonlord Placidusax that you can take advantage of. His head is vulnerable to all kinds of attacks. However, Landing multiple attacks in a row aimed right at his head is not easy. It might not be a major Dragonlord Placidusax’s weakness, but the safest place to attack the dragon is under its tail.
He is weak against piercing attacks as well. Unlike many enemies, Placidusax doesn’t upgrade his defense when moving into a new phase. You don’t have to work extra hard and change your strategy as the battle reaches a new phase.
Preparing for your Showdown
You can’t go into any Elden Ring battle without preparation. You will need a lot of arrows in your war against the lord of dragons, especially if you are planning on range fighting. Normal arrows can’t cut it, though. Keep poison, Serpent, and bloodborne arrows available for battle whoever comes in next.
The best options you can have are either the Serpent Bow or the Lion Greatbow. You should also protect yourself against fire and light powers that Placidusax would use. If you are advanced into sorcery, a Night Maiden’s Mist and Shard Spiral would be helpful in the battle ahead. Learn Blade Of Death and Destined Death before you get into an actual fight with the dragonlord.
Battle Strategy to Follow
If you are tired of spending hours on a boss who wouldn’t die, we have a shortcut for you to get over this quickly. You will need the Serpecant Bow with the ability to kick off an automatic HP drain. You can combine it with Bloodborne arrows that deal high bleed damage. The combo of the two helps you weaken and eventually beat the dragon.
You can attack the dragon from a close range or far away. It is better to stay as close as you can to avoid the dragon’s long-range, accurate offense. Staying close doesn’t mean you are safe, however. The dragon loves to spin around and proceeds to engulf the member in his flames in the process.
The best chances of you beating the dragon lie in your ability to get hits on his head. Once you manage to get Placidusax to 50% health, it moves on to a new phase. The dragon begins to teleport mid-attack, which can disbalance you off your aim. Thankfully, his defense stays the same without any upgrades at any fighting phase.
Attack Placidasux with thrusts when you are in close proximity. The melee approach is considered to be the best method of dealing with the Dragonlord. Notice and study its various movements and combinations.
Final Words
Dragonlord Placidusax is a tricky one to beat. Even getting to the point you can battle him is tough. It takes a lot of challenges to face face to face with the godly dragon. A lot of players even fail to find him altogether. The ones who do manage find it hard to deal with Placidusax’s burning flames and rapid lightning attacks.
However, no king or god in Elden Ring isn’t beatable. Countless players have done it already. So can you, with a strategy that takes advantage of Dragonlord Placidusax’s weakness.
